Substance abuse is on the rise in the United States, costing American more than $100 billion annually. Of the estimated 13 million abusers, 70% are employed, composing 25% of the normal workforce. Experts estimate that those with substance abuse problems:

= Cause 4 times the number of accidents.
= Are absent at 10 times the normal rate.
= Experience 5 times the number of worker’s compensation claims.
= Incur 3 times the number of health benefit claims.

Behavioral Health Systems offers a comprehensive drug testing/screening program that includes testing for reasonable cause, post accident, return to duty, pre-employment, and random sampling. All services are coordinated through BHS central office in conformance with SAMHSA regulations. BHS administers and monitors all laboratory testing and collection, MRO services, centralized billing and reports, and the randomized selection process. Our program is designed to accommodate multi-site locations with a minimum effort by the employer. The BHS approach includes:

= Staff education and training
= Development of a customized testing program
= An effective support system for the intervention and recovery of employees who need help

BHS currently has a network of certified laboratories and collection sites across the nation with employee locations or company preferences. BHS medical review services are provided at our Birmingham office in strict compliance with SAMHSA /DOT regulations.  Our MROCC-certified Medical Review Officer is a board-certified physician with over 19 years experience in occupational medicine.
