What can Behavioral Health Systems do for me?
Behavioral Health Systems will assist you in selecting a behavioral healthcare provider that meets your specific needs and will act as your partner throughout your care episode. We will always be by your side as you assume the management of your personally designed treatment plan.

How do I use services offered by Behavioral Health Systems?
Using BHS’s services is as easy as calling 1-800-245-1150 or contacting us online. Care Coordinators are ready to assist you twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

What hours can I call Behavioral Health Systems?
Care Coordinators are available during our normal business hours of 7:00am to 6:00pm, CST Monday - Friday to help you find network providers, verify benefits and eligibility, and help you with claim status inquiries. They are also available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist you in urgent situations or to answer questions. Call toll-free 1-800-245-1150.

What do I do if I have an emergency?
If you or your family member are experiencing a life threatening emergency and cannot reach Behavioral Health Systems, go to the nearest hospital for stabilization (whether in-network or out-of-network). The hospital personnel will assess your condition and call your doctor and Behavioral Health Systems. If your condition is not life threatening but requires immediate attention, please call BHS for assistance.

Who am I going to talk with when I call Behavioral Health Systems?
You will initially speak to one of our Care Coordinators who will provide the answers you need, or put you in touch with someone who can.

What kind of information will I need when I call Behavioral Health Systems?
You will need your insured's name, social security number, and his or her employer's company name.

What about my privacy?
Behavioral Health Systems follows all national and state laws regarding confidentiality to protect your privacy.

Where does Behavioral Health Systems have providers?
BHS has providers located across the nation in all 50 states. One of our Care Coordinators will assist you in selecting an appropriate provider near you.

Do I have to call BHS to see a behavioral health care provider?
You need to call BHS in order to see a behavioral health care provider.  You may see other providers but, depending on your benefit plan, you may have to pay the entire cost or, you may not receive the maximum amount of benefits. Call BHS if you are unsure about the benefits covered under your plan.

What if my provider isn't in the BHS network?
Once you have accessed your benefits, you can do two things if you would like to try and get your provider into the BHS network:

= Ask your provider to call the Provider Relations department at BHS and speak with them about establishing a contractual relationship to become part of the network.

= Call BHS at 1-800-245-1150 and request your provider be contacted about joining the BHS network.

What do I do if I have problems with my provider?
Please call your Care Coordinator and give them specific information as to your problems or concerns. They will inform the department that oversees these types of issues so an immediate investigation can begin. Meanwhile, BHS will assist you in deciding if you need a referral to a different provider in your area.

What is medical necessity?
Medical necessity is when a type or level of care is deemed necessary to maintain or restore daily functioning. Medical necessity is related to the type of treatment and level determined by a Qualified Mental Health Professional to be appropriate.
